The Norcure Electrochemical Chloride Removal System was installed and operated on 11 columns and three pier caps on the
substructure of the 5th Street bridge over I-64 for Virginia Department of Transportation. The system operated from April
26th to June 26th, 1995.
The chloride concentration at the level of the reinforcing steel is now below the threshold for corrosion.
Reference electrodes installed after treatment will be monitored to provide long term performance data.
